FREQUENTLY ASKED
QUESTIONS
Q I know that this is a group tour, but does that mean that
I won't have any time to do my own thing?
We will provide time for participants
to explore without being rushed and to explore on their own
if they wish. Each participant is free to choose to do solo
activities at any time. Participation is totally voluntary.
Q Can you help me with hotel bookings
prior to or after the tour?
Yes. We are happy to assist you with
hotel bookings, let us know about your accommodation needs.
Q. How will I know how to get
to Palermo from the aiport and where to meet the group?
We will be sending out an info packet which will contain this
info and more.
Q Can I travel as a single and have
a room of my own?
Yes. The cost is generally 10-20 percent above the cost of
the tour. If you are interested we can give you an exact figure.
Q I am traveling alone, is it possible
to share a room with someone to save the single supplement
fee?
Although we cannot guarantee it, we will do our best to find
a suitable "room mate" for you. If a "room
mate" isn't available, you will be required to pay the
supplement.
Q Do I have to be a good photographer
to take one of your tours?
This tour is for anyone interested in photography, from the
novice to experienced amateur or professional, where you are
immersed in an environment where the focus is on you and your
photography, with all the freedom to play, experiment, and
be adventuresome. The emphasis is on a visual design and the
philosophy of vision — providing inspiration for participants,
while exploring new ideas and dealing with the creative process
of photography. This tour is an opportunity to meet with people
who are totally immersed in photography, exchanging ideas
and sharing their enthusiasm with others involved in the medium.
Q What does the tour price include?
All surface travel while in Sicily, accommodations based on
double occupancy (we assign a roommate when possible if travelling
alone), admission fees, breakfasts, photographic instruction
with Richard Martin; language translation and location scouting
from resource guide Elisa Paloschi.
Q What is your refund policy if I am
unable to travel, as scheduled?
Please review the "Bookings"
page.
Q What kind of balance do you have
between touring and photography?
Ultimately, the emphasis throughout is on photographic exploration
but we understand that variety is the spice of life and in
particular, we understand the importance of getting to know
the region. There will be time in towns and cities to explore
without your camera if you choose. We will visit local spots
of interest including a winery and will provide 2 half days
where there will be no tour activities organized.
Q I love photography, but my traveling
companion does not. Should we still sign up together?
This will depend on your travel companion's needs. Please
contact us to discuss.
Q What is the best way to get to Sicily
from Europe?
There are direct flights to Palermo from many European cities,
including London, Paris and Frankfurt. There are extremely
inexpensive flights from London with Ryan
Air. which departs for Stanford Airport.
Q I would like to visit another part of Italy either before
or after my flight. How should I get around?
Flying between Italian cities is easy, try Air
One or Meridiana
often these flights are less expensive than the major
international airlines. You should not have a problem securing
a seat within Italy even just a month ahead. It is worth while
to return to the listed sites regularly as prices change day
to day and seat sales come up unexpectedly.
